We had a blast using Scratch, a program developed by MIT, to learn, explore, and make fun coding programs of our own in Coding Club this year. Scratch uses blockly coding that allows students to click and drag various blocks of code to build out what is happening on their Scratch Stage. Students learned how to build a Scratch scene with different backgrounds, characters, and actions. Some of our favorite were coding challenges this year included building conversations between two characters, adding sound to enhance a scene, and learning how to add different actions and animations to the characters.
Mr. Rubenstein and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring and problem solving in Scratch right along with the students and were thrilled with the creativity and fun everyone brought to their coding this year.
